Day 22 - Big Brother 8 - It's Big Brother's big £100,000 giveaway!
21 Jun 2007:
It's Big Brother's £100,000 giveaway! This week's 3 nominees have 1 minute to decide who will get the diary room stash. Liam smiles when Carole reveals it's him, before emotion overwhelms him. The other housemates are happy for him... but for how long? (Day 22)

(Left to right and top to bottom) Big Brother surprises the housemates by planting £100,000 of 'prize money' in the diary room. This week's nominees, Jonathan, Carole and Seány are called to the Diary Room and told the money is not for them, but they have 1 minute to decide on a housemate to give it to. Seány suggests Laura, Carole picks Ziggy, Jonathan chooses Amanda. They can't agree on any of these, but they quickly come to a concensus that the money should go to new boy Liam.

Carole looks as though she's got the weight of the world on her shoulders as she announces that Liam's bank balance has just gone up by £100,000.

Liam smiles as he hears the good news, accompanied by applause from his housemates.

As the news sinks in, Liam is overwhelmed with emotion. The other housemates all seem supportive at this point. However, they also think they've lost their prize fund to Liam. What they don't know is the winner will still receive the Big Brother prize fund, Liam's is just an extra one! How extravagant of Big Brother. Of course, he has his reasons, and it will be certainly interesting to see what effect tonight's events have on the group dynamics!

Day 21 - Big Brother 8 - Swimming, bitching, flirting and condomnation!
20 Jun 2007:
Charley finds a soulmate in Billi. Nicky's day has lots of negatives, but one big positive, called Liam! Gerry gives Seány a verbal spanking for squeezing his cuddly bear into a condom! (Day 21)

(Left to right and top to bottom) Charley does some sterling stirring today. Whilst Chanelle is probing Carole about last night's bust up with Nicky, Charley convinces Nicky that Carole is still bad-mouthing her, "She's a trouble maker, she knows what she's doing, she ain't thick." In fact, Carole has just told Chanelle that she doesn't want to talk about it! Later, Billi bitches about Chanelle and Ziggy to Charley, "I think people are interested in Big Brother get-togethers when it has more realism than that". "You're so right" agrees Charley, who, delighted to have found a soul mate suggests "We need to take over their show man. We'll start acting. We're good actors... Give the public something to think... 'Would they?', 'Would he like her?', 'Would she like him?', ...we could, easily, it's not fair. I can see their both... their game plan. Sorry, but I can. I know, he knew straight away when he come in here, he wanted to make a relationship so that it would be something big out of the house." Is Charley joking or will she and Billi declare luvvy-duvvy war on BB8's Posh and Becks? Watch this space!

Today Nicky swam the housemates to Big Brother trial glory, by crossing the finish line in Calais-cum-Borehamwood, but her relationships with them aren't going quite so swimmingly. Last night Carole declared their friendship 'over' and today, during the task, Nicky's bossy tone upset Gerry and he was even more irritated when he realised she was listening at the door while he bitched about her! With her self-image battered and bruised, she seeks reassurance from Jonathan, "Erm Jonathan? You feel that I've been shut off and whatever with you... I don't think I've been angry or nasty or rude to you?". "Oh, I do" replies Jonathan, "but not with words... although now I know the reason why, it makes me feel like a pervert, which also makes me upset." Nicky barely looks at Jonathan during the conversation, she tells him "That's why I didn't say anything to you." Jonathan tells her, "I have got a big gob, but I'm not a pervert. You know, I am a reasonable person." "Okay, fine" says Nicky dismissively. "It's not okay fine" points out Jon. Eventually Nicky tells him, "I didn't mean to make you feel like a perv. Shall we just start over?" Jonathan leaves on that happy note, however Nicky, arms folded, eyes downcast, doesn't look at all happy.

What's this? Nicky smiling? Hooray! Gerry observes how she's lying face down on the sofa, waving her feet in the air as she chats with Liam. Gerry remarks, "I'm just reading the body language. When a woman shows you the soft part... (palm & underarm) ...this is one of the softest parts of the female skin... showing it to a man shows vulnerability, but there's an element of flirting as well with the leg." This makes Nicky and Liam smile. Things start getting serious! Liam tells Nicky, "If I were to marry somebody, I'd give myself completely to them, 'cause I've got a really nice family and I want exactly the same." Nicky melts a little more with every word. Later, during a chat in the garden love-boat, Liam tarnishes his wholesome image slightly when he admits to sleeping around! "I enjoyed it and that" he says, sheepishly. Nicky laughs, "I should hope so!" Liam continues, "...but you just feel a little bit, sometimes..." Nicky butts in, "Do you want to meet somebody?" "Hmmm? Dunno?" says Liam. Nicky searches into his eyes. Could they be another pair of contenders for the Posh and Becks luvvy-duvvy crown? Let's hope so, 'cause Nicky looks so much better with a smile on her face!

Someone who finds it impossible to smile right now is Gerry. It's bedtime and he's just found his cuddly bear Freddie with a condom stretched over his head! Seány's sniggering leaves Gerry in no doubt over who's to blame. Housemates leave their beds to watch Gerry's hilarious dramatics as he grabs Seány's straw hats and chucks them into the pool. "No it's disgusting!" complains Gerry, "now my bear smells of condom lube!"

Day 20 - Big Brother 8 - Fifteen Housemates Nominate
19 Jun 2007:
Seány's pre-nominations prank annoys Charley. Chanelle nearly nominates Ziggy. After her miserable swimming stint Chanelle throws a tantrum. Carole throw her tantrum at Nicky. (Day 20)

(Left to right and top to bottom) It's nomination day and Charley is not happy with Seány, who popped wet tissues into her shoes for a joke!

The housemates don't have too much difficulty nominating, except for Chanelle who accidentally, perhaps Freud-ulently, nearly put Ziggy up for nomination twice! The upshot of the nominations is that Carole, Jonathan and Seány will all face the public vote after each receiving 5 nominations from their fellow housemates.

The housemates are given a swimming task. They have to swim an equivalent distance to a 34km English Chanel crossing from Dover to Calais. That's 7,556 lengths of the tiny BB8 pool. When it comes to English Chanelle's turn she only manages a paltry 14 lengths. When Gerry expresses disappointment Chanelle goes into a tiny-tot tantrum. Ziggy and Sam give Chanelle plenty of TLC, but she still rants on. She does however flash an involuntary smile at Sam halfway through a rant, so perhaps she's a little less angry than she's making out!

Naturally, Chanelle's isn't the only rant of the night. When Nicky comes to check what Carole is doing with the food, Carole tells her "No, we're not having another row, Nicky". "Make a nice change", replies Nicky sarcastically. The tension quickly escalates and a moment later Carole proclaims "Nicky, from now, any friendship we had is over." Nicky protests, but Carole is adamant and unwavering. Jonathan offers to take Nicky to one side and explain to her where she might be going wrong. Hopefully he won't stare at her derriere whilst doing so!

Day 19 - Big Brother 8 - Kissing and Telling
18 Jun 2007:
Charley reflects on her argumentative streak. Jonathan baffles the twins with marketing-speak. Big Brother's first full-on gay kiss. Nicky explains why she pulled the shutters down on Jonathan. (Day 19)

(Left to right and top to bottom) This morning Charley has already crushed our hopes she'd never argue again by hurling a torrent of insults at Laura, who she calls is 'two-faced'. However she seems a tad remorseful when she chats with Liam. "I don't know why I'm like that, maybe I'm angry and I don't know why?"

Liam has aired his reservations about Charley, not just to her face but in the diary room too. He also thinks the twins are 'calculated' and 'cutesy'. He's not the only housemate doubting the twins motives. During a chat about who might win the contest, Carole tells Billi and Jonathan, "I don't think they are as innocent as people believe". Jonathan adds that although he likes them, "I just don't buy it". Later, in the bathroom he tells them as much, "You are very marketable, which you know, because you've come in here knowing that, because you're so consistent on it." Chanelle disagrees, "That is not an act. That's what so good about them." The twins smile, but unless Jonathathan is right and they are acting, most of his cynical mediaspeak goes right over their heads!

After hearing Billi and Brian complain that a game of spin the bottle wouldn't go down too well with this bunch of housemates, Big Brother lays on a 'party in a box', which includes party games, including 'pin the ponytail on the Shabnam' and 'truth or dare'. A shockwave reverberates around the house when Jonathan answers the question "What was your bank balance before you came in?" by estimating his assets at £6 million! Charley gives Brian's cheek a tame little peck for a dare. However, when it comes to Seány's dare, he gives a no tongues barred kiss to Gerry. As the first full-on gay kiss, it's a new Big Brother UK necking milestone. Billi is next to kiss Gerry, but first he makes clear "I will kiss, but I will not snog". Billi next has to reveal who he fancies in the house and why. Tracy has already told Ziggy she reckons Billi likes Chanelle. Ziggy studies Billi's response and sounds relieved when Billi names the twins. "You're wrong" Ziggy tells Tracy. "No, I'm not" she says with surety, "he had to question it".

Earlier, Jonathan told Tracy he seemed to be getting along with Nicky, but she just shut him off. Tonight in the garden with Liam and Nicky, Tracy relays Jonathan's concern. Nicky complains this is because Jonathan started making her feel uncomfortable by "perving on" her, and checking out her bum while she was bent over! She explains, "But like he's older! I don't mind, like, younger guys perving on me. It sounds weird." She adds, "It makes me feel uncomfortable and I refuse to let anybody make me feel uncomfortable. Especially a man." How about a younger man Nicky?

Day 18 - Big Brother 8 - It's fun to be at the Big Brother House!
17 Jun 2007:
It's fun to be at the Big Brother house. Biker Brian, 'Highway Patrolman' Liam, 'Native American' Jonathan and 'Sailor' Billi perform 'YMCA' to an appreciative BB8 crowd. (Day 18)

It's fun to be at the Big Brother house! Biker Brian, 'Highway Patrolman' Liam, 'Native American' Jonathan and 'Sailor' Billi perform 'YMCA' to an appreciative BB8 crowd.

The sight of men in uniform gets both Gerry and Seány so excited they throw socks and undies at the fantastically tuneless four.

So far it would seem that the newcomers have had a very positive effect on the house. Charley has even been heard saying, "I don't think I'm gonna have another argument in here now". Of course if she really doesn't then Billi, Brian Jonathan and Liam may be the first Big Brother housemates to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize during their eviction interviews!

Day 17 - Big Brother 8 - 4 more guys enter the house.
16 Jun 2007:
(L-R, Top-Bot) Liam, Jonathan, Brian and Billi generate lots of excitement amongst the ladies as they enter the female dominated BB8 house. (Day 17)

(Anticlockwise, beginning bottom-right) Billi Bhatti is the first of four new guys to enter the house this Friday. He's a 25-year-old model from Uxbridge, but hints that he'd like to move into the Trinny & Sussanah side of the business. Billi has chemically straightened his dark curly locks for the house, so he'll be in competition with Chanelle and the twins for the communal hair straighteners! He's been a wrestling fanatic since he was 10 and even travels to America to attend "Wrestlemania". His ideal lady would be, "Blonde girl, page 3 looking, Essex, not a lot to say"!

(Top-Right) Next up is Jonathan Durden, a 49-year-old media company president. Jonathan, a multi-millionaire whose nickname is 'Beelzebub', says "I will win because I don't need to win". The dad of 2 describes himself "a professional show-off" and "clever, funny, fearless and fat"!

(Top-Left) No 3 is tree surgeon Liam. The 22-year-old from Lanchester, near Durham, used to play cricket for his county but Davina tells us he stopped because "he just didn't want to play on Saturdays". He currently plays for the local Lanchester 2nd team. Liam is a Harry Potter fanatic, he also juggles and annoys his friends with his magic tricks.

(Bottom-Left) Last but not least, is the tall figure of Brian Belo. Brian is a 19-year-old data entry clerk from Essex. He thinks of himself as "the ultimate party boy" but also admits he has "imaginary friends", hopefully he won't need to bring them into the house!

Day 17 - Big Brother 8 - Shabnam takes her leave.
16 Jun 2007:
Despite the crowd booing her as she left the house, Shabnam reatains a positive outlook on her Big Brother experience. (Day 17)

Shabnam Paryani tonight achieves the dubious honour of being the first person to be voted out of the Big Brother house by the viewing public.

On walking out, she performs for the crowd, starting off by telling them "I'm sorry. I love you all. You're wicked!". She does a little dance, waves her arms around and shouts "Shamone!" After a while she admits to herself "I don't know what I'm doing!" Realising that Shabnam could stay up on the exit gangway indefinitely, Davina climbs up to rescue her.

In the studio Shabnam tells Davina she's not surprised to get 81.4% of the eviction vote, "I was very outspoken and very loud. I think I got on a lot of people's nerves... in a good way." Commenting on the 4 guys who've just walked in, she says she really likes Liam - "One tasty dish that one!" - and that she thinks that Jonathan and Carole should get together. Shabnam tips twins Amanda and Sam to win, but when Davina points out that they both can't win she plumps for Carole.

As Davina closes out the interview the North London receptionist sums up her time in the house, "I've had a blast, oh my God, I've had a fantastic time. I'm so grateful".

Day 16 - Big Brother 8 - Shabnam goes bananas!
15 Jun 2007:
Shabnam goes bananas. First she gets caught stealing toilete roll by an angry Carole. Later she has a bust-up over bananas with her once best friend Charley. (Day 16)

Tomorrow could be Shabnam's last day in the house, but today could easily be her worst. For starters she gets caught in the act of nicking from Carole's toilet roll stash. After incurring Carole's wrath, she expands her reach of havoc by going bananas because her 3 bananas have gone! For the record, on last night's show viewers heard Shabnam request her 3 bananas for 45p. However, when Shabnam demands her bananas, her housemates, especially former best pal Charley, simply don't believe her! The ding-dong battle between Shabnam and Charley seems to cheer Ziggy up no end. He provides some incidental music, singing "na-na-na-na-na na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na". His nana will be so pleased he's thinking of her. Shabnam doesn't seem to realise that Ziggy is taking the mick, and after she and Charley have finished yelling at each other she dances along to his banal banana dirge!

Day 15 - Big Brother 8 - Carole is full of surprises!
14 Jun 2007:
Carole is full of surprises. First she surprises the twins with her rudeness. Next she surprises the house with a sexy story. Finally, we think she surprises herself by joining in with the fun! Nicky's diary room pork pies also surprise Big Brother! (Day 15)

(Left to right and top to bottom) Carole starts off the morning by taking charge of the shopping list. She surprises twins Amanda and Sam by rather condescendingly refusing Amanda's offer of help, "Yours is done, go away, you've got your food." The twins aren't happy. They migrate to the kitchen and moan about Carole to one other. This would seem to be about as nasty as they get!

Gerry appears shocked. This time it's not Charley's attention seeking that's bugging him, nor is it Carole's shocking story of a sex act she performed in her late teens on an older guy she'd just gotten off with! No, it seems that Gerry has shocked himself by recounting his derring do at a party full of weird people and cameras. Charley, who Gerry chastised for 'showing off', quickly (and loudly) points out that Gerry is doing a bit of showing off himself!

Big Brother is used to hearing housemates tell a few pork pies in the diary room, but not so used to being tormented by a housemate holding a pork pie. Later BB blames Nicky for tampering with the Diary Room camera by squashing it with the said pie. Nicky protests her innocence, blaming Gerry for the offence. However, BB doesn't quash her squashing punishment and Nicky has to go out and clean some mirrors!

Darkness falls and the house goes even wilder than usual. As housemates chase each other around the bedroom an unimpressed looking Carole warns them to leave her bed alone. When she enters the bedroom it's clear she means business. She tells the housemates "Listen I think enough is enough...", then miraculously she morphs into a middle-aged mutant ninja turtle, shouts "Neeyaaaa!" and jumps right into the chase! That Carole... she's such a one!

Day 14 - Big Brother 8 - Fish And Tiffs!
13 Jun 2007:
Fish may be brain food, but being packed like sardines in a can is a recipe for brawn! (Day 14)

(Left to right and top to bottom) The housemates smell something fishy about this morning's shopping task, "Sardines In A Tin". Sadly their unsublime time in brine (approx. 1.5 hours) is about 3 hours short of BB's secret target! So, it's basic rations this week. Hopefully, for Chanelle's and Gerry's sake, these won't include any more fish!

Another day, another moan for Nicky. She ticks off Shabnam for nattering about the nomination result, next she moves on to Chanelle for eating toast. She's so angry she uses the 'c' word... and we don't mean 'Chanelle'! Finally she has a go at Charley, seemingly for mentioning the word 'game', even though it wasn't followed by the word 'plan'.

Having mown down moaner Nicky, Charley heads off to the diary room to shout her head off. "Who is she!!!" she yells, still thinking about Nicky... or Nikki perhaps?

At the end of a fractious day, Charley has a surprisingly touching chat with Tracy, who faces the eviction vote along with Carole and Shabnam. Tracy reflects, "It's hard, this life is not as easy... y'know, it's a hard thing to go through... if you can find some proper, true friends in this life then hold on f***ing tight to 'em'... Lovers come and go, but friends, if they are real friends, they'll be there through thick 'n' thin. Believe-you-me." "Mmmm" replies a watery eyed Charley, possibly realising that's exactly what she didn't do today!

Day 13 - Big Brother 8 - Nomination Angst
12 Jun 2007:
Ziggy recognises his own naïveté... or does he? Amanda really spills the beads when nominating. Nicky advises Chanelle to 'be so careful'. Shabnam's basic instinct isn't a thriller for Gerry! (Day 13)

(Left to right and top to bottom) Earlier Ziggy told Chanelle how he watched Gerry and Seány having a bedtime cuddle, "Going to bed I was thinking... 'No, two fully grown men... I just can't see the sweet side of it'" By coincidence, Seány now raises the issue of his Gerry-cuddles to Ziggy and Chanelle. Seány can't see that it's any different to "a guy getting on the bed beside a girl and just hugging and talking". Ziggy agrees, but adds "maybe to some naïve people there would be... (How) ignorant!" Is Ziggy perhaps ignorant of his own naïveté!

Amanda is first to nominate, and she really spills the beads in the diary room! "No way have I just done that. It's so bad!" It's not her choice of Carole and Nicky that's bothering her, but the bracelet beads that are bouncing all over the diary room floor! Twincredible! Later Gerry nominated Shabnam and Tracy, Sam chose Shabnam and Carole and Seány went for Tracy and Shabnam. This means that Carole, Shabnam and Tracy face this week's eviction vote.

Bathing in the garden, with Charley in observance, Nicky warns Chanelle not to get "too carried away" and to "be a bit wary" of Ziggy, adding that "he might be saying all this stuff so you don't nominate him." Despite Nicky instructing Chanelle not to "repeat this to him", Chanelle does and later, Ziggy lets Charley know that he knows. Charley tells Nicky that she knows, he knows...(deep breath) ...So, Nicky and Chanelle argue in the bathroom, while Ziggy and Charley argue in the bedroom. Nicky and Chanelle hug and make up. Nicky jokes, "maybe it's because I know what blokes are like and I'm a man-hater". Meanwhile Ziggy tells Laura and Charley there are "too many lesbians in this house". Next, Laura and Charley complain to Nicky, who declares "If he thinks I'm a lesbian I couldn't give a shit." Chanelle chooses her moment to slip away somewhere quieter.

Gerry exposes his inner vulnerabilities by crying hard, just moments after nominating in the diary room. Shabnam joins him in the garden and makes a shabbily veiled reference to the nominations, "Whatever it is, one week or two weeks or three weeks, I've had my experience and it has been a blast! So, you've done what you need to do. Why do you feel bad about anything?... I bet you wish you could tell me something...". "Maybe female intuition" replies Gerry, transparently.

Day 12 - Big Brother 8 - Twins to nominate.
11 Jun 2007:
The twins' fun side impresses Gerry. Chanelle tells the tragic story of her mum's life. Nicky convinces herself she is fun and Charley reminds herself she's sexy. (Day 12)

(Left to right and top to bottom) Gerry really likes twincredibles Amanda and Sam. He says his biggest fear is that "they will lose this kind of cheerfulness". He jokingly warns them that "it's inevitable, you will turn into vamps...", adding that they might turn into man-eaters who'll toy with men's emotions. For the time being the twins are content to toy with their hair. They continue to impress later during the Board Room task. So much so that Gerry and Seány select the girls to join them on this week's nomination panel.

Chanelle tells Gerry and Ziggy that she was born in a prison whilst her birth mum was "locked up for doing drugs". Chanelle says she was told from an early age that she was adopted, but she wasn't told the tragic truth of how her mum was murdered until she was about 14 or 15. Both Gerry and Ziggy are clearly sympathetic, Gerry reminds her "the adversities of life can only make you stronger."

In the diary room Nicky seems a bit worried that "the young ones" of the house may be perceiving her as a bit of a moaner "about the food or whatever". She puts the record straight, telling Big Brother "there's a lot more to me than worrying about cooking. I'm fun God damn it!" Shame she forgot to smile.

Chatting in the garden, Charley surprises Nicky and Shabnam by saying she isn't proud of her body, although she admits that she's a bit more confident now, which is why she can wear revealing costumes like this one! Charley moves on to other insecurities, "we get spoken about each day, we're outcasts". Nicky and Shabnam don't disagree when Charley declares that Ziggy, Chanelle and Co. are "the main group". Later, in the house, Charley and Shabnam indulge in a bit of bitching about the competition. Charley is convinced that Chanelle would nominate her if she had the chance, "I see it all... that's what annoys me about me, yeah...". "It's a gift" replies Shabnam. The convesation is cut short when Ziggy enters the room. Charley changes the subject, "I think as a group we're all very privileged". Wow, that's it Charley girl, stay positive!
